In "Help Wanted," it is revealed that SpongeBob's first words were "May I take your order?".SpongeBob used to be left-handed, but in later episodes, he is ambidextrous, revealed in "The Splinter" and "You Don't Know Sponge.".Bob the Sponge, a natural sea sponge with sunglasses, was the "host" of the book. The book was intended for children and taught about the behaviors of different sea creatures. While Stephen Hillenburg worked as a teacher of marine science at the Ocean Institute in California, he authored an educational book called The Intertidal Zone which he wrote back in 1984.The Snail SpongeBob mentions in Roses is mention his pet sea snail, Gary.
SpongeBob is a fry cook at the Krusty Krab. The quote "This will be easier than flipping a Krabby Patty!" Is a reference to SpongeBob's Job. 
The song that plays when SpongeBob loses is "Hawaiian Cocktail" which was made by was composed by Richard Myhill. SpongeBob's original name was "SpongeBoy" it was changed because the name was already trademarked by a mop company. This obviously makes sense as his character resembles a kitchen sponge although it's technically confirmed that he is a Yellow Tube Sponge, a type of Sea Sponge that lives on coral reefs around the Caribbean Sea and The western Atlantic ocean. 
Also, in "I Had an Accident," he filter feeds through his holes, as he is a sponge. An example is in "The Bully" when Flats the Flounder kept on hitting him, but SpongeBob just absorbed all of his blows. Sometimes when SpongeBob cries, he re-absorbs his tears.
Absorbency: Being a sponge, he is also absorbent, and can expand his body by absorbing liquids. 
The "My leg!" sound effect plays when SpongeBob loses. Moreover, his eye color seems to be, uniquely, a shade of pacific blue (or Crayola cerulean,) SpongeBob has light olive-green pores, dimples with three freckles on each cheek, a large mouth with two prominent front buck teeth, a long, slightly curved nose, and large light blue eyes. However, in the more recent episodes, he is more of a regular square shape. In earlier episodes, he is wider near the top and gets skinnier going further down, akin to that of a trapezoid. He is light yellow with a light olive-green outline. SpongeBob is a sea sponge with a rectangular shape.
